GP Appointments

Going forward all our appointments will be based on a GP telephone/video Consultation Triage System. This means that a GP will determine if you need to be seen for face to face consulation in the surgery. The GP will take information given to the receptionist by you, the patient. Please be as clear and precise as possible about the nature of your health problem, this will help us to help you.

We need your contact details, your date of birth, telephone number, please indicate if you have access to a smart phone, and an email address. Please do not attend the surgery unless you have been requested to do so. We have appointments available for patients into either a Hot or Cold Clinic. Please note that telephone calls may be recorded for training and quality purposes.

Practice Nurse/ Healthcare Assistant Appointments
Your Practice nurses will continue to manage your chronic health reviews, but may move to either telephone or video consultation where possible. You will be informed which method when booking the appointment.

Physician Associate (PA) Appointments
We now have Physician Associates working alongside our GPs. They are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside our doctors and provide medical care as an integral part of our multidisciplinary team. PAs work under the supervision of a doctor but can work autonomously with appropriate support.

PAs are trained to work within a defined scope of practice and limits of competence to perform the following duties: taking medical histories from patients, carrying out physical examinations, seeing patients with undifferentiated diagnoses, seeing patients with long-term chronic conditions, formulating differential diagnoses and management plans, carrying out diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, developing and delivering appropriate treatment and management plans, requesting and interpreting diagnostic studies, providing health promotion and disease prevention advice for patients. However, currently PAs are not able to: prescribe or request ionising radiation (eg chest X-ray or CT scan). PAs currently see patients face to face.

We thank you in advance for your co-operation.
